Ahead of the All Progressives Congress’s convention on March 27 and 28, 2026, former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari has been appointed Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee, succeeding Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
This was said in a statement that was put on the APC’s official X page on Friday and signed by Surajudeen Basiru, the party’s national secretary.
“The Central Coordination Committee for the 2020 National Convention has been reorganised following additional engagement with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and national stakeholders.
According to the announcement, “Central Coordination Committee subcommittees will be formed and announced in due course.”
After the party leadership approved a new reconstitution, Uzodimma, who had previously been named chairman of the committee, was transferred as treasurer.
The party also added more chieftains, such as Senator Barry Mpigi and other prominent party leaders, to the committee, increasing its size from 73 to 90 members.
Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was appointed Vice Chairman I under the new arrangement, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State and chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, will be Vice Chairman II.
Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, was kept on as the committee’s secretary.
The modifications were made just a few days after the APC announced Uzodimma as the 73-member committee’s chairman, a move that indicated the convention’s preparations had accelerated and that new members of the party’s National Working Committee would be elected.
