Skit maker Nasiru Lawal, popularly known as Nasboi, has criticized fellow skit maker-turned-streamer Carter Efe for downplaying the skit-making industry in a recent interview.
The controversy began after Carter Efe claimed during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast that skit making “is dead.”
He also revealed that he became depressed because he felt the skit-making industry was “dying” before he eventually ventured into streaming.
Reacting during a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Nasboi disagreed with Carter Efe’s statement, stressing that it was wrong to speak negatively about the industry that made him famous.
According to Nasboi, evolving into other forms of entertainment is not a problem, but dismissing skit making entirely is unfair.
He said:
“Evolving is not a bad idea but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books. Carter Efe is my friend, we speak every time. But he is a loose talker.
“You can’t say skit making is dead. People are blowing up every day with skit making.
“The fact that people evolved doesn’t mean that the industries they are leaving are dead.”
