The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has asked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to order a full investigation into the disappearance of social media commentator, Abubakar Dadiyata, after new claims by former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
Dadiyata was abducted from his residence in Kaduna in 2019. Since the incident, his location has remained unknown, with family members and supporters still demanding answers.
During an interview on Arise News, El-Rufai dismissed claims that Dadiyata focused his criticism on the Kaduna State Government. He stated, “Dadiyata was not a fierce critic of Kaduna State Government; he was a fierce critic of Kano State Government.” He further alleged that findings at the time indicated that those behind the abduction came from Kano.
Responding in a statement issued on Saturday, the NNPP, through its Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, called on Governor Yusuf to act without delay. The party stressed that the matter must not be overlooked, reminding the governor of his campaign pledge. “The governor promised during his campaign that issues of injustice would be addressed,” Karaye said. He warned that any hesitation in launching a probe could suggest that political considerations are being placed above the pursuit of justice.
