The Zamfara State Police Command has secured the release of 15 persons who were abducted in Bungudu Local Government Area of the state.
Details of the operation emerged on Tuesday through a post on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
The report stated that the victims regained freedom during a routine patrol by police operatives around 3:30 pm. The team encountered the victims, who had been held captive since December 2025.
After their rescue, the victims were moved to Nahuche Primary Health Care Centre, where they are receiving treatment.
The report, however, indicated that the ordeal claimed lives, as seven of the abducted persons reportedly died while in captivity.
It also disclosed that three individuals are still unaccounted for, while efforts continue to ensure their safe return.
Authorities have reiterated their resolve to confront abduction and improve security across Zamfara State.
