Pope Leo: I’m not afraid of Trump administration

Pope Leo XIV has expressed disappointment over the conflict in Iran, criticizing the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump over its continued military operations in the Persian nation.

The Chicago-born pontiff, who is the first American to occupy the prestigious office, spoke to reporters on Monday as he began a 10-day pastoral visit to several African nations. He was reacting to a Truth Social post by President Trump.

“I have no fear of the Trump administration or of speaking out loudly the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do, and what the Church is here to do.

“Let us always seek peace and put an end to wars. I will continue to speak out against war,” the Pope said.

The Pope insisted that his stance on a ceasefire in Iran and other conflict areas is rooted in Christian teachings.
