Controversial singer Portable has declared that he has done more for people in the music industry than top names like Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid, and Davido.
In a video broadcast, the Zazu crooner insisted that his support goes beyond the industry, extending to ordinary Nigerians and the less privileged.
Portable criticized many celebrities for being “egoistic,” saying they distance themselves from regular fans and upcoming artists. According to him, he freely associates with everyone and even promotes videos made by fans.
He said:
“Many Nigerian celebrities don’t post their fans even if they dance to their songs or promote them. But I repost every positive video about me. Even with your money, many celebrities won’t let you feature them as an upcoming artist. But I help people freely. I have helped more people in the music industry than Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido.”
Portable went further to explain what he considers true help:
“Help is when you see a homeless person and take them home, shelter them, clothe and feed them. You also take them to their first studio session and pay for it. Anything other than that, you are just doing business.”
He added that many established stars disguise business arrangements as charity, and when the artists they groom become independent, they label them “ungrateful.”
Portable insisted that such narratives are unfair since what many industry leaders call “help” is essentially profit-driven collaboration.
