Salah Confirms Liverpool Exit As Inter Miami And Al-Hilal Lead Race For His Signature

Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, closing a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield. His announcement has triggered intense speculation about his next destination, with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal and MLS club Inter Miami emerging as leading contenders.

Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, is reportedly prepared to make a major offer to bring Salah to the United States. The move would pair him with Lionel Messi, creating one of the most high-profile attacking partnerships in football. However, the deal faces logistical hurdles. Miami currently has no available Designated Player slots, which are required to sign stars outside the league’s salary cap. To accommodate Salah, the club would need to restructure its roster significantly during the summer.

Saudi Arabia’s Pro League also remains a strong option. Al-Hilal, one of the country’s most ambitious clubs, is expected to table a lucrative proposal. The league has already attracted global stars in recent years, and Salah’s arrival would further boost its profile.

Salah announced his departure in an emotional video shared on social media. He reflected on his time at Liverpool, where he won every major trophy, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup. His impact has been immense, with his goals and leadership helping define one of the club’s most successful eras.

Tributes quickly followed from teammates. Andy Robertson, who joined Liverpool in the same transfer window as Salah, praised his influence both on and off the pitch. Robertson described him as one of the greatest players to wear the Liverpool shirt and thanked him for nine unforgettable years.

The Independent also reported that Saudi officials are targeting Liverpool’s leadership structure. Michael Edwards, the club’s football chief, and sporting director Richard Hughes have been identified for potential roles in the Middle Eastern league. Edwards only recently returned to Fenway Sports Group to oversee a multi-club model, but with those plans currently stalled, Saudi Arabia may attempt to lure him away. Hughes, meanwhile, has been linked directly with Al-Hilal.

Liverpool’s season has already shifted focus. Arsenal lead the Premier League by a wide margin, leaving the Reds 21 points adrift in fifth place. With the title race effectively over, Salah’s farewell campaign now centers on knockout competitions. Liverpool face Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals. Success in these fixtures would give Salah the chance to end his Anfield career with more silverware.

For Liverpool, Salah’s departure marks the end of an era. For Salah, it opens the door to a new challenge, whether in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing league or in the United States alongside Messi. His next move will be one of the most closely watched transfers of the summer, underscoring his enduring status as one of football’s global icons.
