A police constable, Ukasha Muhammed (F/No 533164), has allegedly been shot dead by a soldier in Bauchi State.

According to reports, the incident occurred during an argument between a group of policemen and soldiers attached to Operation Safe Haven, a joint military-police task force maintaining peace across Plateau, Bauchi, and parts of Kaduna States.

Sources said the altercation took place at a checkpoint in Tudun Wadan Dan Iya, popularly known as Bayan Gari, in Bauchi metropolis, on Friday, October 10, 2025.

A relative of the deceased, Rashida Muhammed, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, describing it as “an unfortunate and painful loss.”

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, as neither the Bauchi State Police Command nor the Operation Safe Haven authorities have issued an official statement at the time of filing this report.
