Suspected terrorists have attacked Madagali, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, and abducted six members of a family in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area. The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the attack in a statement issued on Tuesday morning by its spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

According to the police, the attackers also made away with livestock during the raid. Nguroje said security forces had launched a joint operation to rescue the victims.

The statement said, “The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, in the early hours of today by suspected terrorists, which led to the abduction of six(6) family members and the rustling of livestock.”

It added that security agencies swiftly responded after receiving the report. “Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, Troops of 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to the affected area and surrounding communities.”

Nguroje also said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Dankombo Morris, had ordered sustained security measures across the area. According to him, the police commissioner directed continuous search-and-rescue efforts, increased patrols, and stronger security presence in Madagali and nearby border communities to ensure the safe return of the abducted persons and prevent further attacks.

He stressed that security agencies remained committed to protecting residents. “The Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other sister security agencies, remain fully committed to protecting lives and properties across the State.”
Nguroje added, “Further updates will be communicated.”

Meanwhile, Governor Fintiri on Tuesday commenced a tour of the 21 local government areas of the state to assess security conditions and other challenges affecting residents.

The attack in Madagali comes amid a series of violent incidents in Adamawa State. Hong Local Government Area was attacked recently, where 12 people were killed and several houses destroyed. Earlier this year, a communal clash between Bachaman and Chobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area claimed more than 20 lives.
