Gospel singer Tim Godfrey has responded to critics who accused him of being “worldly” after releasing his new song Infinity featuring Nigerian artist Oxlade.
The collaboration sparked controversy among some fans, who questioned why a gospel artist would work with someone known for past scandals. Critics referred to Oxlade’s leaked intimate video, arguing that the partnership contradicted gospel values and that Tim should have chosen a more “suitable” collaborator.
After days of silence, Tim addressed the backlash in an open letter titled “To the Labeled.” In it, he spoke directly to people who have been judged or misunderstood because of their appearance, lifestyle, or choices.
He shared that he too has been labeled “worldly,” “rebellious,” and “unspiritual,” but reminded believers that Jesus never rejected anyone. “He sat with the broken, touched the untouchable, and called the forgotten family,” Tim wrote.
The message resonated with many who feel excluded by religious expectations. Tim emphasized that grace is not determined by looks or reputation, saying, “You may have tattoos or dreads that make them stare, but neither did Jesus fit the religious image.”
Concluding his letter, Tim announced that his upcoming project, No Label, will be released on October 31, 2025. He described it as more than just an album — a movement celebrating freedom, love, and acceptance.
“Jesus didn’t come for the perfect. He came for the real,” he wrote, earning praise from fans who commended him for promoting a more inclusive message in gospel music.
