President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday dismissed claims of religious genocide in Nigeria, declaring that no religion is under attack in the country.
Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, at the unveiling of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s book, “A Decade of Leadership in Nigeria,” the President described the allegations as “unfounded, divisive, and misleading.”
“Our churches, mosques, and traditional shrines stand side by side—not as rivals, but as symbols of the unity that binds us,” Tinubu told the audience at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Convention Centre. “No outsider will define us. Nigeria will not accept lectures from those who profit from division.”
The President, who also commissioned major projects including the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia Road, Assumpta Twin Flyover, and Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Convention Centre, said Nigeria had made significant progress under the APC since 2015, citing investments in infrastructure, security, and economic reforms.
Tinubu assured the South-East of greater inclusion under his Renewed Hope agenda, stressing that no region would be left behind.
The event was attended by top APC leaders, former governors, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
