President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State, on his birthday, describing him as a patriotic leader and a long-time ally in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Kwankwaso’s decades of service to the nation in various capacities — including as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Minister of Defence, and two-term Governor of Kano State.
President Tinubu noted that Kwankwaso’s growing influence in the North, particularly in Kano, reflects his pro-people brand of politics, likening it to the legacies of late political icons Mallam Aminu Kano and Alhaji Abubakar Rimi.
“Senator Kwankwaso remains a friend and ally with whom I served in the National Assembly in 1992 and later as governors in 1999. We also worked together in founding the All Progressives Congress,” Tinubu said.
The President further acknowledged that although Kwankwaso now leads the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), he “remains within the progressive fold.”
Tinubu wished the Senator good health and many more years of impactful service to Nigeria.
