President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the Nigeria Police Force and the family of former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, who died on Sunday at the age of 69.
In a statement, the President described Arase as a “highly resourceful officer” whose reforms as IGP and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission brought lasting changes to policing in Nigeria.
Arase served the police from 1981 to 2016, leading key tactical, operational, and intelligence units before rising to Inspector-General. After retirement, he continued to serve in national and international roles, including as PSC chairman and consultant to the Office of the National Security Adviser.
President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of Arase’s soul, noting that his expertise and contributions will be deeply missed by the nation.
