President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Jos, Plateau State, on a condolence visit following last Sunday’s attack in Angwan Rukuba that claimed at least 27 lives. He was received by All Progressives Congress National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and other senior officials.

The President had earlier condemned the violence in Jos and a separate incident in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where wedding guests were killed and abducted. In a statement issued through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the attacks as “barbaric and cowardly” and assured Nigerians that those responsible would face justice.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” Tinubu said. He stressed that such acts of violence would not go unpunished.

During his visit, Tinubu commended Governor Mutfwang for his swift response in managing the crisis in Jos. He directed security agencies to intensify operations to track down the perpetrators and restore calm in affected communities. The President emphasized that protecting citizens remains a top priority and urged security forces to act decisively.

Tinubu also cautioned against framing the attacks as religiously motivated. He warned that such narratives could inflame tensions and escalate violence. Instead, he called for unity and collective resolve to confront insecurity without division.

The visit underscores Tinubu’s commitment to addressing insecurity and reassuring victims’ families of government support. It also highlights the administration’s broader stance against violence, with a focus on strengthening security measures and discouraging divisive rhetoric.

By condemning the attacks and pledging accountability, Tinubu seeks to reinforce public confidence in the government’s ability to respond to crises. His presence in Jos signals solidarity with affected communities and a determination to ensure justice for the victims.
