The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, Bright Abeke, has reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
The incident happened on Friday evening at about 7:25 p.m. at a hotel located along Owumi Road.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a vehicle, opened fire, and then whisked the council chairman away to an unknown location.
During the attack, a local vigilante member identified as Ufuoma and another person were reportedly injured.
The injured vigilante has been taken to a medical facility, although his current condition has not been confirmed.
As of the time of this report, authorities have not released any official statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, supporters and associates of the chairman have gathered around the area, searching for information about his whereabouts and expressing concern over his safety.
