Popular media personality Nedu Wazobia has stated that it is difficult for poor people to be regarded as role models in Nigeria.
Nedu made the remark during a recent podcast conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
While discussing the influence of money in society, he explained that many people no longer respect or look up to individuals who are not financially successful.
Speaking in a snippet of the interview shared on his Instagram page, Nedu argued that wealth now plays a major role in determining who society chooses as a role model.
He said:
“You can’t be a role model when you don’t have money in Nigeria.”
Nedu also made a controversial claim about some women living in the Lekki area of Lagos State, suggesting that many of them cannot afford their rent without support.
According to him:
“Most women wey dey live for Lekki, na men dey pay their rent.”
