Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over alleged internal party issues.
The group accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of actions they claim could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The petition, dated April 22, 2026, was submitted at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. It was presented to journalists by Olosasa Toyin and signed by Onimasa Hazmat Ganeey and Abdulraheem Alabi.
In the petition, the stakeholders accused the governor of “de-marketing” the party through what they described as unpopular policies, poor handling of security issues, and sidelining party members and the public.
They also alleged that the governor plans to impose the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Danladi Yakubu, as his successor in 2027, warning that such a move could cause internal crisis.
According to the group, attempts by some party leaders to contribute to the state’s development have been blocked, while opposing voices within the party are allegedly being targeted through legal actions and security agencies.
They further claimed that the governor’s actions have reduced his popularity, especially in Kwara Central and Kwara South, describing him as a political liability to the APC.
On the reported move to reopen the 2018 Offa robbery case involving former Senate President Bukola Saraki, the group said it appears politically motivated.
They warned that such actions could generate public sympathy for Saraki and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which may affect the APC’s chances in future elections.
The stakeholders called on President Tinubu and the party leadership to step in, warning that the situation could deepen divisions and weaken the party in Kwara State if not addressed.
