Nigerian singer Waje has shared her past struggles with body image, revealing how insecurity affected her confidence in her younger years.
Speaking on the Her Next Chapter podcast hosted by Tope Olowoniyan, the 44-year-old said she used to wear multiple bras in her 20s because she felt uncomfortable about her body.
In her words:
“Even before I had my child, I have always been heavy at the top. I used to hide it. In my 20s, I used to wear like three bras. I used to be very uncomfortable about how heavy I was at the top.”
She explained that over time, she became more confident and gradually let go of those insecurities. According to her, motherhood also played a major role in changing how she views her body.
Waje further credited people around her, including rapper M.I Abaga and dancer Kaffy, for helping her build confidence and develop a tougher mindset against negative comments.
Her story highlights the importance of self-acceptance and personal growth over time.
