Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has described the music industry as “very wicked,” expressing frustration over what he sees as a lack of support from fellow artists.
The rapper, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, complained about excessive ego and double standards among musicians in the industry.
According to him, he regularly supports other artists by promoting their songs on his social media pages whenever they release music, but many of them fail to return the support when he drops his own songs.
Reacting on his X handle, Blaqbonez wrote, “I think this [music] industry is very wicked because since I dropped Chanel, none of my peers have posted it.
“@Drake I posted yours last week, @centralcee @1future @1GunnaGunna I support you when you drop but when I put out the biggest song of the summer its crickets, the double standards.”
This is not the first time the rapper has criticized the music industry and his colleagues.
Back in 2023, Blaqbonez accused some artists of using streaming farms to artificially increase their music streams and manipulate music charts.
Although music executive Don Jazzy, rapper Odumodublvck, and others rejected the claim, Blaqbonez insisted that stream farming exists and has caused “irreversible damage” to the Nigerian music industry.
