Nigerian singer Mayorkun has dismissed viral reports claiming that his house in Lagos was destroyed by a fire.
Earlier reports had alleged that the incident happened on Saturday night while the singer was at home with his children, raising concern among fans and the public.
However, Mayorkun refuted the claim in a statement shared on Instagram by his mother, actress Toyin Adewale.
Reacting to the false report, he questioned why such information was shared without proper verification.
He said: “Why would you do this? Don’t you verify your news before posting? This is seriously unfair. My family will never cry, no evil shall befall us IJN. Please, learn to do better.”
His mother also appreciated those who reached out in concern, while reaffirming that the family is safe.
She said: “Thanks for checking on us. Thanks for your calls and messages. I truly appreciate. We Shall Not Cry Nor Mourn Over Our Children. No Evil Shall Befall Anyone Of Us All Ijmn.”
