Crayon, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, has opened up about his past struggle with mental health and how he overcame it.
Speaking during a livestream with Caterefe, Crayon revealed that he faced serious mental health challenges in 2022.
He explained that the pressure came from different areas of his life, including family expectations and the demands of trying to succeed in the music industry. According to him, he was under intense stress because he was trying to meet family needs while also working hard to become one of the top artists.
The situation became so serious that he had to be hospitalised, where he underwent a long period of therapy.
Crayon said:
“In 2022, I had mental health issues from all sort of stress; family, industry, trying to be number one stress. I was hospitalised for a long therapy session, then I came out and dropped Labalaba and Overloading.”
After recovering, he returned to music and released hit songs like Labalaba and Overloading, marking a strong comeback after a difficult period.
