President of the United States, Donald Trump, has directed the US Navy to ensure no ship passes though the Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump also threatened to bomb Iran’s water treatment facilities, power plants and bridges as cease fire talks failed over the weekend, insisting Tehran must abandon its nuclear weapons programme.
US Vice President James David Vance who led the US team for the negotiation with the Persian nation said talks with Iran ended without a deal, claiming he had put forward a “final and best offer”.
Since the escalation of tensions between the United States and its ally Israel against Iran which led to the death of Iran’s Supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, Iran has been restricting traffic through the strait, a route that reportedly control 20% of the world oil supply.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has insisted the Strait of Hormuz is open for civilian vessels, but said that military ships “will be dealt with severely”.
