d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has been arrested by police in Los Angeles over the suspected murder of a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to authorities, the 21-year-old singer is being held in connection with the teenager’s death after her decomposing body was discovered in a vehicle linked to him.
Police said the case is tied to an earlier missing person report filed in 2024 for the victim.
Investigators revealed that officers were called to a Hollywood tow yard in September after reports of a strong, unpleasant smell coming from an impounded vehicle connected to Burke.
The car had earlier been towed from the Hollywood Hills after appearing abandoned. Upon inspection, officers found the dismembered remains of the teenager inside.
The Los Angeles medical examiner stated that the victim had been dead for an extended period before being discovered.
Authorities said the case will be presented to prosecutors, who will determine whether there is enough evidence to formally file charges.
In response, Burke’s legal team denied any wrongdoing, stating:
“No criminal complaint has been filed, and no grand jury has returned an indictment in this case. David has only been detained under suspicion. The actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.”
The arrest comes after months of investigation, including a grand jury probe. Police also noted that the singer had been cooperating with authorities during the investigation.
The victim was last seen in Lake Elsinore, about 60 miles from Los Angeles, and officials have not revealed any relationship between her and the singer.
