The House of Representatives has witnessed detections of eight of its members from the All Progressive Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party.
This move has become critical as politicians realign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
From the APC, David Fuoh (Taraba) defected to the PDP, while Bashir Zubair (Kaduna) joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The PDP recorded the most losses with five of its members choosing other political parties. Abubakar Abdul from Niger State defected to the ruling APC, Yakubu Noma from Kebbi State joined the ADC and Ibrahim Mohammed, also from Kebbi State, pitched with the APC.
Two lawmakers from Osun State, Mudashiru Alani and Adetunji Olusoji dumped the PDP for the Accord Party.
A Lagos lawmaker, Thaddeus Attah, left the Labour Party for the ADC.
Announcing the deductions, the deputy speaker, Benjamin Kalu, dismissed the one-party direction opposition leaders has criticized the APC led government stating APC also witnessed defections.
