One soldier has been killed and another injured after troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade were ambushed by suspected terrorists in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident was disclosed by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post shared on his X platform.
According to security sources, the attack occurred around 12:53 p.m. on May 4 along the SPDC–Etekuru road, where troops had been deployed to inspect a burnt Hilux vehicle.
The soldiers reportedly came under heavy gunfire immediately after arriving at the scene, leading to a fierce exchange with the attackers.
Following the ambush, one soldier was confirmed killed in action, while another sustained injuries.
The attackers were said to have escaped with two AK-47 rifles and also partially damaged a military vehicle during the assault.
Reinforcements were quickly deployed to the area, forcing the assailants to retreat.
Further search of the scene led to the discovery of two burnt vehicles and the bodies of two individuals, which were later evacuated to a hospital morgue for investigation.
