Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced a gradual return to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz following the neutralization of U.S. and Israeli threats. The announcement comes just days after missile and drone warnings to the U.S. Navy and ongoing talks on easing restrictions on the major oil corridor.

Transit will gradually become stable in the Strait of Hormuz as security in the region is improved, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday. In the opinion of the IRGC Navy, shipowners and captains were adhering firmly to the regulations set by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Persian Gulf.

On its official X page, the IRGC conveyed its thanks to the shipowners and captains for observing the set regulations. ‘With the aggressor’s threats neutralized and new protocols in place, safe, stable passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be ensured, the statement read. As approximately one-fifth of global oil supplies is transported through the waterway, its security is crucial for the global trade sector.

The notification comes two days after Tehran fired missiles and drones aimed at dissuading approaching U.S. Warships. President Trump stated early Wednesday that he had scrapped a planned initiative aimed at coercing Iran to lift transit restrictions through the Hormuz.

In early March, Iran imposed a transit ban, referring to American and Israeli aggressive actions against its territory. Though an Iran-brokered truce was declared weeks later, the regime did not lift its restrictions, reiterating that Tehran continued to monitor Washington and Tel Aviv over their repeated breaches. It is understood from Press TV sources that a system for vessels to transit through defined corridors is in place.

Sources are indicating that Iran and the U.S. are progressing towards an agreement which will allow an end to hostilities and the easing of restrictions in the Hormuz waterway in a permanent manner. In its notice, the IRGC stressed that observance of maritime rules would remain indispensable for passage through the Strait.
