The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to the kidnapping of a farmer in Oyo State.
The command disclosed that the suspects were arrested at different times and locations during ongoing security operations in the state.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, the victim, identified as Quadri Oloriegbẹ, was abducted recently from Olopoto Village through Abugbudu in the Irawọ area of Oyo State.
Ayanlade explained that the police initially arrested one suspect connected to the kidnapping before intensifying investigations after the victim regained freedom from his captors.
He added that further security operations later led to the arrest of three more suspects linked to the crime.
According to the statement, all four suspects are currently in police custody.
“The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of a significant breakthrough recorded in connection with the abduction of one Alhaji Quadri Oloriegbẹ ‘M’, aged 42 years, a farmer from Olopoto Village via Abugbudu, Irawọ area of Oyo State.
“The sustained operational pressure and collaborative efforts of the security teams subsequently led to the apprehension of one suspect identified as Umaru Bokolo, who was strongly linked to the crime through credible intelligence and community identification.
“In furtherance of the command’s determination to ensure that all individuals connected with the crime are brought to justice, the continuous and coordinated bush-combing exercise carried out at Irawọ town and surrounding locations led to the arrest of three additional suspects, namely: Zada Abubakar, Husein Rabiu, and Abubakar Mohammed, all arrested in connection with the abduction incident,” the statement said.
