Jose Mourinho has set out two non-negotiables as the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss is prepared to return to Real Madrid. The Spanish outfit is rumored to be chasing the Portuguese coach to succeed them as manager following an uninspiring season. http://goal.com
Mendes opens dialogue with Madrid hierarchy
It is no secret that Real Madrid wants to bring Mourinho back to the Spanish capital, and with Alvaro Arbeloa’s time as boss on its final chapter, the board has singled Mourinho out as the man they believe can once again reinstate the competitive and values-driven philosophy that they crave at the Bernabeu.
AS reports that initial talks are underway between the boss’s representative, Jorge Mendes, and the Real Madrid hierarchy, although they are expected to gather pace once the domestic seasons in both Spain and Portugal come to an end.
Despite enjoying life in Lisbon with Benfica, Mourinho is fully aware of the situation at his old stomping ground and has considered all factors about a return to the Bernabeu and his two non-negotiable demands if he takes on the task at the Bernabeu.

The first requirement regards the recruitment and transfer policy of Real Madrid.
Mourinho feels that he needs to have greater input on who arrives and leaves and believes that he needs a certain authority over the strengthening of positions that he feels need bolstering, and he would expect the same remit as he had upon his arrival in the Spanish capital, where the arrivals of Luka Modric, Mesut Ozil, and Sami Khedira would represent his influence in transfer dealings, of which he considers the current squad to be unbalanced in comparison to his previous tenure, and he would expect the same remit to amend the disparity of positions in what he perceives as a lopsided squad.
His second demand is with regard to the general structure of the club as a whole. The Portuguese boss does not want an overhaul of the entire sporting department but feels that the hierarchy within the club, in terms of coaching staff, should be given the respect and authority that it is felt is not being provided for.

The coach wants an environment that is clear on the authority of the coach and one where the hierarchy of the coaching staff is not undermined by the people at the club and one that he will only consider, for example, with issues such as those with Vinicius Junior this term and last year under Xavi Alonso. The former Inter Milan manager wants the coach’s presence and authority respected among first-team members of the club.
Although Benfica have presented their manager with an improved contract in an effort to ward off interest, the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss is understood to be attracted by the prospect of a return to the Bernabeu, with reports suggesting a buyout clause of just 3 million euros is in his contract, with that deal set to expire just ten days after the close of the season, which will provide Real Madrid with a limited window but a feasible opportunity to acquire the Portuguese boss.
