Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested six suspected drug peddlers during a joint raid operation in Katsina State.
The development was revealed in a post shared on Monday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, through his X handle.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out around 5:30 p.m. on May 9, 2026, by troops of the 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi.
The joint security team reportedly stormed Kauyan Dawo community in Malumfashi Local Government Area after receiving intelligence reports about suspected drug-related activities in the area.
During the operation, six suspects alleged to be involved in drug peddling were arrested.
Security operatives also recovered several substances during the raid, including 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.
Military authorities disclosed that the arrested suspects and the recovered substances have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The authorities added that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and other related criminal activities in communities across Katsina State.
