At least two people have been killed after bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked an illegal mining site in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) later recovered the bodies of the victims and rescued one person following the attack.

According to security sources quoted by security expert Zagazola Makama, the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on May 11 at Kedawa village in Barkin Ladi LGA.

The sources explained that troops from Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41 Gashish, quickly responded after receiving reports that illegal miners operating at the site had come under attack.

On arriving at the scene, the troops reportedly discovered the bodies of two victims identified as Mr. Napan Danjuma and Mr. Leba.
