Music executive and producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has dismissed claims that Mavin Records gives special treatment to some artists while neglecting others in the label.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Crea8torium podcast, Don Jazzy said it would make no sense for a record label to invest money in an artist only to ignore or abandon the same artist in favour of another.
According to him, artists under Mavin Records who release fewer songs or appear less active are usually making those decisions themselves and are not being sidelined by the label.
He also explained that feelings of self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and overthinking often make some artists believe they are being treated unfairly compared to their colleagues.
“We Do See Lots Of Comments That We Do Not Prioritise Some Artists. But That Isn’t True. It’s Like I Would Just Carry My Money And Just Throw It Away, Just Lock It Inside Somewhere. We Obviously Invest In People To Make Us And Themselves Money,” He Said.
Don Jazzy further stated that the label is always willing to support artists who are ready to release music and stay active.
“So, The Idea That We Would Have Artists And Not Want To Prioritise Them Is Not Real. If You See An Artist In Mavin And The Artist Only Releases One Or Two Songs In A Year, Just Know That It Is The Artist’s Decision. If The Artist Has One Million Songs And They Want To Release Them, We Can Release Them,” He Explained.
He added that many artists struggle with pressure and anxiety, which can affect their confidence and productivity.
“Most Of Them Actually Have Imposter Syndrome. It’s Normal. We Are All Human Beings, So Sometimes They Can Panic And Overthink Things. But There Is No Such Thing As Prioritising One Artist Over Another,” Don Jazzy Said.
