The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in the fight against violent crimes, with the arrest of a suspected wife-killer and a 20-year-old robbery suspect in separate operations across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, the operations were conducted under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Dahiru, psc, fdc, in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s directive to rid the country of violent crime.
MAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING EX-WIFE IN AUJARA
On Tuesday, July 23, 2025, operatives of Aujara Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Iliyasu Musa, a 40-year-old man from Dangewaye Village, who had been on the run for nearly two weeks after allegedly killing his ex-wife.
The tragic incident occurred on July 10, 2025, when Musa reportedly ambushed 30-year-old Hadiza Sale, mother of their six children, as she returned home from the market. Armed with a stick, he is said to have struck her fatally on the head.
After intense surveillance and tactical operations, the suspect was tracked down and arrested in Larabar-Tambarin-Gwani village, where he had been hiding.
He is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse and will face charges in court upon conclusion of investigations.
ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER STABBING VICTIM IN RONI
In a separate incident, the police also arrested Alpha Samaila, a 20-year-old man from Sabuwar Unguwa, Roni LGA, in connection with an armed robbery attack that left a man stabbed and robbed.
The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday, July 21, 2025, when robbers stormed the residence of Abubakar Yahaya at Kofar Kudu, Roni. The attackers broke into his house at about 2:30 a.m., stabbed him with a sharp object, and fled with ₦170,000 cash and a Techno Hot 40i smartphone.
Police responded swiftly, and the victim was taken to the Roni Primary Health Care Centre, treated, and later discharged.
A thorough investigation led to the arrest of Samaila, who is now assisting authorities in efforts to capture other fleeing suspects involved in the attack.
POLICE VOW TO SUSTAIN MOMENTUM
Reacting to the successes, CP Muhammad Dahiru commended the gallant efforts of his men in both Aujara and Roni. He reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and public safety.
“The Jigawa Police Command remains committed to ensuring that criminals have no hiding place in this state,” the Commissioner stated.
He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible and timely information.
