A businessman identified as Abibu Yakubu has taken his ex-wife to the Upper Area Court 1 in Karu over her alleged refusal to leave his house after their divorce.

Yakubu is also asking the court to grant him custody of their four children.

The case was filed against his former wife, Shuwadatu Mohammed, on October 13, 2025.

According to the court documents, Yakubu, who lives at Orange Market in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, said his ex-wife also still lives at the same address.

He alleged that she does not respect him or his parents and often insults them.

Yakubu said their marriage produced four children, aged 22, 19, and six-year-old twins.

He further claimed that although he divorced his wife about five years ago, she has refused to move out of his house.

According to him, she allegedly said she would not leave the house until she killed him.

He also accused her of threatening his life and said he no longer sleeps peacefully because of fear for his safety.

Yakubu asked the court to hold his ex-wife responsible if anything happens to him.

He also requested a re-dissolution of the marriage and custody of the children.

After hearing the matter, the judge, Mohammed Yakubu, adjourned the case until June 3 for continuation of hearing.
