President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons team with the national award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) following their historic triumph at the just-concluded WAFCON tournament.
Each player and member of the technical crew was also rewarded with a $100,000 cash prize in recognition of their outstanding performance and for making the nation proud on the continental stage.
Speaking during the reception at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu praised the team’s courage, unity, and resilience, describing their victory as a symbol of hope and national pride.
“The Super Falcons have shown the world the true spirit of Nigeria — strength, determination, and excellence,” the president said.
The players, in return, expressed gratitude for the honour and pledged to continue representing the country with pride in future competitions.
