Thieves armed with guns, knives, and cutlasses have invaded the female hostel of the Numan Campus of the Adamawa State Polytechnic, stealing phones and other valuables from students.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, May 27, as Muslims were preparing for Sallah celebrations.
Students said the attackers dispossessed them of about 15 mobile phones and other personal items during the invasion.
Some students who resisted the robbery attempt were reportedly injured, while one student fainted due to shock and trauma.
The victims accused the school authorities of negligence and poor security on campus, saying they were left vulnerable to the attack.
The Numan Campus is the second largest campus of the polytechnic, after the main campus located in Jimeta, Yola.
The Information Officer of the institution, Albert Matila, confirmed the incident, saying the management would visit the affected female hostel to assess the situation and take necessary action.
