Former Kano State Governor and National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged party members to remain steadfast and not be distracted by speculations of political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the NNPP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Kwankwaso praised members for their commitment and congratulated them for the successes recorded in recent elections.

The NNPP leader expressed confidence that Nigerians are leaning towards the party, saying:

“The people in this country have made a decision on what to do in 2027. We are so happy with ourselves because we are with the people, and the people actually know we are with them.”

Kwankwaso, however, lamented rising poverty levels, insecurity, and hardship across communities, noting that many Nigerians can no longer access farms, markets, or even move freely in their localities.

Amid widespread talks of defections and new alliances, Kwankwaso cautioned NNPP members against being distracted. He stressed that the party remains strong and prepared for national leadership.

“We are comfortable in the NNPP and believe we have something to offer at the highest leadership level of this country. We are ready to talk to anybody, but any negotiation will be collective,” he said.

The NEC meeting comes as political parties across the country intensify realignments and strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
