Kaduna Govt Accuses El-Rufai of Plotting to Destabilize Peace

The Kaduna State Government has accused former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of plotting to destabilize the state through “provocation, manipulation and dangerous lies” following the defeat of his political allies in the August 16 by-elections.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuiabu, the government alleged that El-Rufai has been inciting violence, peddling false claims, and attempting to drag the state back into “its dark and violent past.”

The statement said El-Rufai’s recent remarks on national television — accusing both federal and state governments of bribing bandits — were “malicious lies” that undermine security efforts and insult the sacrifices of military personnel who lost their lives restoring peace.

“Kaduna has moved on,” the government said, stressing that under Governor Uba Sani, the state has made progress in security, education, healthcare, and financial inclusion. It warned that any attempt to incite ethno-religious conflict will be met with the full weight of the law.

“The peace of Kaduna State is non-negotiable. Anyone who dares to threaten it, be it Nasir El-Rufai or any of his accomplices, will be held accountable,” the statement concluded.
