President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the United Nations to embrace urgent reforms or risk becoming irrelevant in global affairs.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu called for Nigeria’s inclusion as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, reforms to the global financial system, and fairer access to resources for developing nations.
He also pushed for a two-state solution to the Palestinian conflict and stressed that Africa’s mineral wealth must benefit Africans through local processing and partnerships.
Tinubu noted Nigeria’s tough economic reforms and emphasised that ideological victories, not just military action, will secure lasting peace against terrorism.
