American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is asking for mercy ahead of his sentencing on two prostitution convictions.

The rapper, who was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges in July, is due for sentencing on Friday, October 3, 2025.

In a letter to the judge, Arun Subramanian, Combs described his stay in a Brooklyn federal jail as life-changing but also incredibly difficult. He asserted that he spent more than a year in overcrowded quarters with 25 men, no windows, and limited access to clean drinking water, asserting there were “times when I was on the brink of giving up on life.”

He asks the court to consider his personal development and attempts to change himself, as well as his role and responsibility as a father to seven children, and son to his elderly mother who recently underwent brain surgery. He also expressed remorse for how he behaved, namely physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, while they were in a relationship.

Prosecutors contend that the seriousness of his crimes, together with his history of influence and control over others, requires a minimum sentence of 11 years in prison.

They cited Ventura’s testimony, along with another woman, Kimberly D., who also provided testimony of the abuse they experienced as well as images of fear and terror that accompanied the abuse.

Following the testimony from both women, the prosecution argued that the abuse that each experienced was a reflection of the danger that each endured.

The defense requested that the 13 months he has already served be considered as time served. They also plan to present a 15-minute video to the judge that showed his commitment toward reform.

Diddy Combs will have a chance to speak directly to the judge before a final decision is issued. The judge’s ruling will determine how much longer he will stay in prison on the two counts of transportation to a prostitute.
