Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her close working relationship with Afrobeats star Wizkid, describing him as both a mentor and a friend.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the “Irawo” crooner reflected on their early collaborations and how their friendship grew through music.

Seyi Shay revealed that she and Wizkid worked together on several songs, including her track “Crazy” and one of his. She also provided backing vocals for a few of his other records.

“I did Crazy with Wizkid. I featured him on the song and he featured me on one of his songs. I also did backing vocals for a couple of his other songs then. We became genuine friends,” she said.

Praising Wizkid’s talent and creativity, she recalled being amazed by his effortless recording style.
“I realised he’s incredibly smart and talented. I’ve seen him record while eating, and it blew my mind. He’s like a magician. I’m naturally drawn to people with that kind of rare talent — my soul just connects with them,” she said.
