Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of what he described as a “deep moral crisis,” following the resignation of Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology.
In a statement issued on Tuesday titled *“Forgery as State Policy: Tinubu, His Cabinet, and the DSS Must Be Held Accountable,”* Atiku alleged that the government was attempting to “whitewash” what he called another scandal involving document falsification.
He argued that Nnaji should have been dismissed and prosecuted rather than allowed to resign voluntarily, claiming the incident reflected a wider pattern of deception within the administration.
“Uche Nnaji should not have been allowed the courtesy of resignation. He should have been summarily dismissed and prosecuted for deceit and falsification,” Atiku said.
“By permitting him to quietly exit through the backdoor, the Tinubu administration has once again demonstrated that it is an assembly of forgers, impostors, and morally bankrupt individuals masquerading as public servants.”
Atiku also questioned the Department of State Services (DSS) for clearing Nnaji during the appointment process, saying the same agency had previously raised security concerns about other nominees.
The former vice president further called for an independent investigation into the academic and professional records of all members of the Federal Executive Council, including President Tinubu.
“Nigerians deserve to know the truth about those who preside over their lives and resources,” Atiku said, adding that “deception has become the standard of governance under this administration.”
Atiku’s statement concluded with a call to “restore integrity to public life” and end what he described as the institutionalization of falsehood in government.
The Presidency and the DSS have yet to respond to the former vice president’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
