Popular Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has expressed frustration over the government’s failure to tackle the growing economic hardship in the country.

Speaking in a recent interview with British host Madame Joyce in the UK, Zlatan said Nigerians have become so used to suffering that hardship now feels normal.

“We are used to it — suffering and smiling. That’s how it has always been, and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” he lamented.

The musician was reacting to British rapper Dave’s satire on Nigeria’s flashy nightlife, which contrasts sharply with the poverty seen outside the clubs.

Zlatan also criticized the attitude of some street beggars, saying many have turned begging into a career despite receiving frequent help from kind-hearted Nigerians, including artists.
