Nigerian singer, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has achieved a major milestone as her hit single ‘Duduke’ has been certified Gold in New Zealand.

The certification, which recognizes sales of over 15,000 units, marks Simi’s first-ever international music accolade.

Released in 2022, ‘Duduke’ became a global sensation for its heartfelt lyrics, as Simi expressed the rhythmic beat of her heart for her unborn child. The music video, where she proudly showed off her baby bump, further connected with fans worldwide.

The song’s popularity also sparked the viral ‘Duduke Challenge’, where fans created their own creative renditions of the track.

In an interview, Simi shared that some fans began calling her daughter, Adejare, “Duduke” because she inspired the song. While she said she doesn’t find the nickname offensive, Simi noted that she prefers people to address her daughter by her real name.
