Babies Are Not Dirty, Bathing Them Daily Could Damage Their Skin – Toke Makinwa Claims

Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has advised mothers to avoid bathing their newborns every day, saying it could harm their delicate skin.

In a video shared on her social media page, Makinwa — who recently welcomed her first child at age 40 — argued that babies are naturally clean and do not need daily baths.

She said babies come from the womb, which is not a dirty environment, and their skin is too fragile for constant exposure to water.

Makinwa explained that she does not bathe her own baby every day, preferring to wipe the child instead. She said this has worked well for her and encouraged other nursing mothers to do the same.

“I really think bathing babies actually causes problems. Babies are not dirty. They have been inside the womb for nine months. Inside the womb is not dirty.

“I don’t bathe my baby every day because it is not necessary. Babies are not on the floor; they are not dirty or sweaty. So, why are you excessively putting water on their skin? Their skin is fragile. You can wipe them instead of bathing them every day. This helped me, so I’m just putting it out there,” she said.

Her advice has sparked mixed reactions online, with some questioning her experience and qualifications, while others agreed with her perspective.
