Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, widow of late Afrobeats star Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad), has taken legal steps to prevent any unauthorized individuals from seeking control over her husband’s estate.

She filed a formal notice at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, asking the Probate Registry to reject any application for Letters of Administration that does not come from the rightful beneficiaries.

According to a letter dated November 19, 2025, submitted by the law firm Salawu, Akingbolu & Co., Omowunmi confirmed she had already filed Form 5 and Form 6. These forms legally prevent the court from issuing Letters of Administration to anyone not recognized by law as a legitimate beneficiary.

The correspondence, signed by I. P. Awo (Esq.), identifies Omowunmi as Mohbad’s legal wife and the mother of his only surviving child, Master Liam Aloba.

She also noted that public announcements were published in two national newspapers warning against any attempt—whether secret or fraudulent—to claim the estate without going through the proper legal process.

Her lawyers emphasized that the notice is already on court record and will remain valid until the estate is fully and legally administered. They stated that no irregular or backdoor attempt to gain control of Mohbad’s assets will be accepted, especially since his lawful wife and son are still alive.

This legal move comes amid heightened public interest in Mohbad’s estate, following ongoing controversies surrounding his death and disputes among family members over ownership of his assets.
