Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, says she has surpassed all the dreams she had before fame. She shared this during an interactive session with fans on X.
A fan asked what she is currently looking forward to and whether she has achieved all the dreams she had before becoming a star. Tems replied that she is looking forward to whatever God has planned and that she has already achieved more than she ever imagined back when she was working a 9-5 job.
Tems left her job as a digital marketer in January 2018 to pursue music. She released her debut single, Mr Rebel, later that year, gaining early attention. Her major breakthrough came in 2020 after featuring on Wizkid’s hit Essence, which later reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 after a remix with Justin Bieber.
In 2023, she became the first female Afrobeats artist to win a Grammy after her collaboration with Future and Drake on Wait For U won Best Melodic Rap Performance. In 2025, she won another Grammy, this time for Best African Music Performance, making her the only Nigerian with multiple Grammy Awards.
