Veteran Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has revealed that his Facebook and Instagram accounts have been deactivated. The suspension occurred shortly after he released his new track, Open Letter to Donald Trump.
Abdulkareem said on Sunday that he has been unable to access either account since the song’s release, and checks confirmed that the pages can no longer be opened. He did not disclose how long the suspension might last or whether Meta provided any prior notice.
Released in November 2025 under Lakreem Entertainment, Open Letter to Donald Trump critiques corruption, insecurity, and poor leadership in Nigeria. While addressed to the former U.S. president, the song primarily highlights the failings of Nigeria’s leaders, calling out those in power for living comfortably while citizens endure hardship.
The rapper also raises concerns about the rising cases of kidnappings, killings, and other crimes affecting public safety. By mentioning Trump, Abdulkareem aimed to draw global attention to Nigeria’s problems and the struggles faced by ordinary citizens.
This track continues his long history of using music to challenge authority, similar to his 2004 hit Jaga Jaga, which criticized corruption and governance and was banned during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration. In April 2025, his song Tell Your Papa was also banned from radio and TV broadcasts by the National Broadcasting Commission for allegedly violating content rules.
