Nigerian social critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has shared what he believes is the only lasting solution to Nigeria’s growing insecurity and terrorism problem.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page on Monday, VDM blamed the country’s worsening security crisis on the lack of education, especially in northern Nigeria. He argued that most of those involved in terrorism come from the region and that proper education would pull many young men out of the forests and away from criminal activities.
According to him, “The only solution to terrorism is to educate the Northerners. Any Nigerian leader who dedicates four years out of an eight-year tenure to enforcing education in the North would solve the terrorism problem.”
He stressed that knowledge is power, insisting that Nigeria will continue to suffer if the educational gap is not addressed. VDM added that many people in the North focus mainly on religious studies instead of formal schooling, creating a vulnerable population that can be easily manipulated by a few educated individuals.
He warned that unless the government prioritizes education in the region, the country may face even more serious security challenges in the years ahead.
