Nollywood actress has taken her dispute with popular clergyman to court, filing a ₦1 billion lawsuit over what she described as an unfulfilled promise of marriage.
The actress reportedly filed the suit at a high court, accusing the pastor of causing her emotional distress, reputational damage, and breaching her trust during the course of their alleged relationship.
According to Doris Ogala, she and Pastor Okafor were involved in a serious and long-term relationship. She claimed that she was repeatedly led to believe that marriage was imminent. The actress alleged that the relationship lasted several years, during which she said she made personal sacrifices, offered emotional support, and remained loyal, only for the relationship to end when the pastor allegedly decided to marry another woman.
Doris has also addressed public reactions to the controversy, denying allegations that her actions amount to blackmail. She maintained that her decision to go to court is about seeking justice for the emotional and psychological harm she claims to have suffered, rather than an attempt to extort money.
The ₦1 billion lawsuit is said to include demands for financial damages, a public apology, and formal legal acknowledgment of the alleged wrongs committed against her.
Although full details of the court filings have not yet been made public, the lawsuit represents a major escalation in a dispute that has previously played out on social media and in the mainstream media.
As of the time of this report, Pastor Chris Okafor has not issued any official response to the lawsuit. The court is yet to fix a date for hearing, but the case is already drawing widespread public interest due to the profiles of those involved and the sensitive nature of the allegations.
