Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned what he described as a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, calling for urgent international action to stop the violence.

Speaking from Jerusalem, Netanyahu said, “From here, the Holy Land, Israel—the only country in the Middle East where the Christian community is thriving—I say clearly: it must end now.”

His remarks come amid ongoing insecurity in parts of Nigeria where armed attacks, kidnappings, and communal violence have killed thousands, including many Christians. While some groups describe the attacks as religious persecution, others point to a complex mix of insurgency, banditry, and ethnic conflict.

The Nigerian government has denied claims of genocide, saying the violence affects people of all faiths. Netanyahu urged global leaders and institutions not to remain silent in the face of what he called persecution of Christians.
